Introduction of the cooperation

Joint projects with foreign countries are being implemented successfully in the mining sector. For example, we are now implementing the project “Supporting artisanal mining” to regulate the mineral mining activities with non-industrial methods in cooperation with the Swiss Development Cooperation agency.

We have started to implement the project “ Capacity building of MRPAM” step by step in the framework of the irrevocable assistance provided by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. In 2006 the first stage training was organized, in 2007 second and third stages of training were successfully organized too. The fourth stage training was organized further in 2008. The project “Mining registration cadastral system” is being successfully implemented at the MRPAM in the framework of the Worldbank project to support the government of Mongolia. Since July 21, 2006 when this project has officially started to be implemented a working group was organized to ensure day-to-day operation and foreign and domestic advisers have been selected by tender in order to provide the project with technical management. In the framework of the project activities the legal environment and the operation of the cadastral registration centre have been evaluated and analysed and two volumes of the diagnosis report have been published. The recommendations from this report have started to be implemented in the activities.

We have selected the professional implementing company and started the calculation work of the measure and converting parameters of some GPS points on site in whole Mongolia as a sub-part of the project work. Our geological division implements the project “Non-metal and some metal minerals of Mongolia” together with the Federal institute of the geological science and raw materials in the framework of the technical cooperation with Germany for the years from 2008 to 2010. Totally for 20 days a field research work has been done within the project from May 15 to June 05, 2008. Totally 27 deposits and occurrences of non-metal and some metal minerals in the eastern part of Mongolia were involved into the field research work. At the end of August of this year we plan to study mineral deposits of northern and western directions of Mongolia.

Mineral Resources Authority of Mongolia will continue its activity to prepare its human resources and to improve the qualification and education of its co-workers in the framework of the cooperation with the Mining Academy of Freiberg in Germany. We also plan to cooperate with the LMBV Co., Ltd from Germany as in the past. We exchange our suggestions concerning a project proposal on reduction and elimination of ‘white dust” from the tailings of the Erdenet’s mining processing factory and dust caused by transport with trucks in open pit. If the finance issue would be positively solved there is high probability to carry out this project. Our divisions delivered the following suggestions of participation in the international events in 2009.Unfortunately, because of the finance shortage we will get approved just some of them.
