Organization history Mongolian mining law was approved by the Mongolian Great Ikh Khural (Parliament) on June 5, 1997 and started to be implemented on July 1, 1997, which constituted a new legal environment of mineral sector. According to the new law Government resolution #132 came out on May 30, 1997. The mineral resources authority of Mongolia was organized and Mr. Dugaraa JARGALSAIKHAN appointed to be a chairman. The Mineral Resources Authority’s main activities and main role are defined by the law, which are to implement the minerals law, to give affordable services to the customers and investors in geology and mining sector, to improve the role of mining sector in Mongolian economic. In 2004 Mineral Resources Authority and Petroleum Authority united and became Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia (MRPAM) under Minister of Industry and Trade. The MRPAM was organized according to the Government Resolution #249 which based on Parliament Resolution #14, as an implementing agency of Mongolian government. On Dec 29, 2004, L.Bold appointed to be the new chairman of MRPAM. The main activities of MRPAM were to provide fast and fair services to investors from cadastre office, to provide and support by needful information of petroleum, mineral and geology sectors to the policy makers, to implement policies and to improve role of petroleum, mineral and geology sectors’ role in Mongolian economy. According to the parliament resolution #43 and government resolution #64, Mineral Resources and Petroleum Authority of Mongolia has been reorganized and divided into Mineral Authority and Petroleum Authority under Ministry of Mineral and Energy. Mr. Dorjpurev BATKHUYAG appointed to be the new chairman of Mineral Resources Authority of Mongolia by the government resolution #54 on Feb 18, 2009.
