History of the Organization


  • The new legal environment for the Mongolian mineral resources industry was established by adopting the  Minerals Law, which became effective  beginning July 01, 1997, by the Great State Hural held on June 05, 1997.  The Mineral Resources Authority (MRAM), a governmental implementing agency, was established by the 1997 Government Resolution No. 132 in connection with the adoption of the Minerals Law newly, and D. Jargalsaikhan was appointed as the first Chairman of the Authority.

  • Based on the 2004 Great State Hural Resolution No. 14 on “Adoption of the System and General Scheme of a State Administrative Body)” the Minerals Resources and Petroleum Authority” (MRPAM) under the jurisdiction of the Trade and Industry Minister by a way of merging the Mineral Resources Authority and Petroleuin Department were established and L. Bold was appointed as the Chairman, and by issuing the 2004 Prime Minister’s Ordinance No. 159. So, the MRPAM (former name) became a governmental implementing agency with the functions to implement the Government Action Programs, and the objectives and directives proposed by the Trade and Industry Minister for developing minerals and petroleum industries.

  • The MRPAM (former name) was reorganized into the Mineral Resources Authority and the Petroleum Authority, governmental implementing agencies, in connection with the adoption of the 2008 Great State Hural Resolution No. 43 on the “Adoption of the System and General Scheme of State Administrative Bodies” and the subsequent 2008 Government Resolution No. 64.

  • Mr. D. Batkhuyag was appointed as the Chairman of MRAM of Mongolia, the governmental executing agency, according to the 2009 Government Resolution No. 54.

  • G. Altansukh was appointed as the Chairman of the MRAM of Mongolia based on the 2012 Government Resolution No. 148 dated May 02, 2012, and the Protocol No. 27 of the Cabinet Meeting dated May 02, 2012, respectively.

  • Mrs. D.UURIINTUYA is appointed to be the Acting Director of Mineral Resources Authority of Mongolia by the government resolution #173 on May 31, 2014.

  • Mrs. D.UURIINTUYA is appointed as the Director of Mineral Resources Authority by the Mongolian Government resolution on February 29, 2016.
